Exceptional 1950s chest of drawers / bureau from the Brandon range by E Gomme, made during the early years of G-Plan. Classic oak finish with four graduated drawers and iconic geometric handles. The surprise is the top drawer front drops down at the click of a button to convert into a desk with pigeonholes to the rear - perfect for a keyboard or laptop. EG G-Plan gold stamp inside drawer.

The Brandon range, launched in 1953, was the first to be produced by E Gomme under the G-Plan brand name. This unusual chest of drawers, from that range, is perfect for working from home and also provides exceptional storage. Representing the best of post-war British furniture design, this compact piece will suit many contemporary homes.

This appeared in the G Plan catalogue as having a 'Secretaire drawer - allows the chest to do double duty as a desk and chest of drawers.'

Other models had a make-up drawer with mirror or a sectioned drawer for neat and easy storage.

Very slight damage to the right hand shelf in the bureau (see photo).
