Iconic LC4 chaise longue designed by Le Corbusier in collaboration with Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in 1928. Beige canvas seat, leather headrest and footpiece, all tensioned with steel springs. Black tubular steel base, with ribbed rubber casing to the stretchers, supports the adjustable seat. While all features of the LC4 by Cassina, there is no model stamp on the frame and so it can't be attributed to them. Provenance suggest this is a high quality version from the 1980s.

In good condition, although some discolouration to the canvas owing to age.

The LC4 was first manufactured by Thonet in 1930 but only 172 were made. The design proved too expensive to make and so Thonet dropped production, only for Le Corbusier to issue under his own name in 1959. The chaise then became known simply as the Le Corbusier chaise and gained much more commercial success. particularly when Cassina began producing the chaise, under licence and the name LC4 in 1964.
