A pair of cups and saucers from the Twintone Streamline range by Poole Pottery. The Sky Blue and Dove Grey colourway (no. C104) was launched in 1956. A stunning, simple design in a fantastic colour.

Some chips to the base of one cup - not visible when sitting on the saucer.

C104 Sky Blue and Dove Grey: this blue is much greener than the original Sky, and can be confused with Ice Green. Dove Grey is paler than Moonstone Grey. This was a successful pair that was produced until 1981.

The 'Streamline' shape was designed by John Adams in the 1930s and consisted of a full range of tea, dinner and coffeeware. The original shape had wedge shaped knobs on the lids, gently curved handles and rimmed plates. In 1955, Alfred Read remodelled the shape giving it round flat knobs and ‘coupe’ shaped plates, as well as angled cup handles.
