Rarely seen sauce jug in the Magic City pattern designed by Susan Williams-Ellis for Portmeirion Pottery. Very attractive, unusual squat shape.

Inspired by Susan Williams-Ellis' travels, Magic City captures the sense of adventure and excitement of foreign lands. Dome topped buildings with crescent finials, rose windows and towers of geometric shapes topped with triangular crenellations are all depicted in white, red and ochre designs on a black background with abstract green doodles.

The pattern was designed in 1966 for the Serif shape of pottery and was the most commercially successful of the range. The design carried on to the early 1970's.

Full red stamp to base, with additional gold 'M'
