Greaves & Thomas

About Greaves & Thomas

Greaves & Thomas were a London based furniture maker based in premises in Clapton, in the London Borough of Hackney from 1911 till 1965. They were based at the now defunct Amherst works on the Northwold Road and were incorporated into Schreiber furniture in 1967. The furniture from the 1960s mirrored the style of modernist Danish designers, using clean geometries, teak timber, tapered furniture legs and smooth fabrics. Greaves & Thomas invented the Put-U-Up settee-bed, much sought after today.
